P90X

Part of our training for riding across the US is P90X. Now i know you guys have heard of this, or seen the commercials on TV. I have to admit i was pretty intimidated by it. We started 7 weeks ago, and i remember not know what to expect. The first day was back and chest. I have never done as many push ups in 60 minutes as i did that morning. Then there was the pull ups...well you see i can not do a pull up. Just isn't going to happen. So i grabbed the band and did alternate movement to a pull up. It was safe to say i was spent after that first week.
Fast forward to week 4, recovery week. Yes, recovery week this is going to be great. NOPE sorry kid, recovery week consist of cardio and core workouts. Your muscles get to recover while rest of your body works.
Week 5 - Phase 2. by now i have completed all the Phase 1 DVD's. Although I am not as graceful as the individuals on the TV, I can get through the work outs and I am even starting to see a little change in muscle tone. I have gone from none, to...wait what is that a vain in my bicep? So i show up to day 1 of week 5, phase 2...just to find out we are on a new set of work outs. I quickly found out why it was called phase 2 in the handbook. I went from i can do this, to what the heck was i thinking. Can my body even do what is being asked of me?
Fast forward to present day, I just completed week 7 and am into my second recovery week (8). So i will continue to sweat next week while i am recovering. But i have a good support group that is keeping my accountable for showing up every morning. This time and sweat will pay off on the bike next April....

More to come after week 8 is complete

Taking a 1/2 day off

I took a half a day off today to go to Point B. POPs Ride is the charity for this quarter. We are excited to go a visit with them this afternoon.
